General Orthodontic Care in Rockwall, Texas
During your treatment, Dr. Minth and our team want you to feel as comfortable as possible. Dr. Minth and our team are grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us, and practice orthodontics with the same level of detail that we put into all our dental procedures.
HOW ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT WORKS
Delta Force orthodontic brackets have less bracket-to-wire friction, which increases efficiency and reduces treatment time. Invisalign® clear aligners use a series of removable trays that are comfortable, aesthetic, and convenient. Both orthodontic methods move teeth in relatively the same way: by placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction.
DURATION OF TREATMENT
While your treatment time will depend on your unique needs and smile goals, most of our patients complete treatment in a year. Your length of treatment is also dependent on your level of commitment. Invisalign aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours each day to be effective. Also, keeping your teeth free of cavities is essential, as restorative work can delay the progress of your treatment.

DR. JEFFREY MINTH IS A CERTIFIED INVISALIGN PROVIDER
Consider Invisalign treatment to get the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted — without braces. A complimentary consultation with our doctor can determine if Invisalign clear aligners are right for you.
WHAT IS IT?
Invisalign treatment uses a series of virtually invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that allow you to smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign clear aligners are made with 3D computer imaging technology and
WHY WOULD I WANT IT?
Not only are the aligners virtually invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also more comfortable than traditional braces, with no metal or wires, which also usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign treatment also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions. You’ll visit us about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages nine to 15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDER (TMD)
Millions of Americans suffer from chronic facial and neck pain as well as recurring headaches. In some cases, this pain is due to Temporomandibular Disorder, or TMD.
Your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) connect your lower jawbone to your skull. These joints get a lot of use throughout the day as you speak, chew, swallow, and yawn. Pain in and around these joints can be unpleasant and may even restrict movement.
SYMPTOMS OF TMD INCLUDE:
- Pain in the jaw area
- Pain, ringing, or stuffiness in the ears
- Frequent headaches or neck aches
- Clicking or popping sound when the jaw moves
- Swelling on the sides of the face
- Muscle spasms in the jaw area
- A change in the alignment of top and bottom teeth
- Locked jaw or limited opening of the mouth
Should you notice any of these symptoms, let your doctor know. Your dentist can help indicate the presence of TMD and create an effective treatment just for you.
There are a few simple steps you can take at home or work to prevent TMD from becoming more severe, or to prevent it from occurring:
- Relax your face — remember the rule: “Lips together, teeth apart”
- Avoid grinding your teeth
- Avoid constant gum chewing
- Don’t cradle the phone receiver between your head and shoulder — either use a headset or hold the receiver in your hand
- Chew food evenly on both sides of your mouth
- Do not sit with your chin rested on your hand
- Practice good posture — keep your head up, back straight, and shoulders squared
